Running in Chico

How running can convert your prespective
Running in Chico

Before I proceeded my expedition on running, I would frequently be in my house wasting daylight and feeling ashamed because of it. These actions weren’t necessarily beneficial in any variation, physically or mentally. They would be things ranging from video games, to staying up super late fighting my sleep eating lots of junk food, watching uneducated YouTube videos, and wasting lots of time. This all made me feel a sense of sensation only because it was fun, but I’ve never been proud of it because it only kept me at an average level. Running essentially was one thing that made me feel happy, never wasting daylight, feeling less lethargic, and made me surpass being an intermediate individual. I came to realize that all I needed was one attempt to see if I favored the running or not and at first, I remained hesitant. One of the most common perspectives on running is that it is very hard, unsafe, challenging, or intimidating. It is essentially a large reason why many tend to avoid running consistently. However, developing such a norm involving running can strengthen your mind, physic, and self-esteem, but mainly your perspective on the entire world. There are separate categories on how running can benefit one’s life.

Running can always be a challenge to any individual, despite how simple it may appear to some. There is always something for everyone, ranging from increasing mileage, the course or route you’re running, the competition of other people, running in harsh conditions or running a certain quantity of miles as fast as possible and improving. It is always a superb feeling  to accomplish something that you previously couldn’t even imagine executing. There are numerous strategies and ways that individuals can utilize in their run to win which is either efficient or inefficient which is how the sport is comparable to a puzzle of some sort.

Before running, I had already gained large number of friends and people who knew me. After running, it has gradually been increasing through not just teammates in Cross Country, but even from other schools who we occasionally see. Running as a whole is very family-friendly and very welcoming. It contains the perfect balance between competition and remaining peaceful. For simply just attempting to run and finish a race against other people or run on your people often respect dedication and drive while gaining respect for yourself. Since running is very accessible and available for almost anyone there are many runners active and during races there can even be up to 120 runners. Not only do you make new friends, but you can gain an audience or possibly get recruited by executing what you’re compassionate about.

As a youthful kid who was raised in Chico California, the city has had a downfall in terms of beauty and even safety. Downtown used to be lush, and green and a popular spot for kids and adults to engage in activities. Nowadays things are quite the opposite with many incidents occurring a lot around the downtown area, which some had considered the most popular portion of Chico. There are most definitely other parts of the city that have had its ups and downs over the years. The scenery provides a feeling of depression and darkness. As I’ve been running I’ve come across terrestrial areas and unexpected terrain I never knew existed. These areas are astonishing and secluded with many pedestrians being completely anonymous of the location. They are located on the outskirts of the city where the land is untouched by people and you can seek cows, mountains, creeks, mansions, farms, barns, and the forest. The natural beauty alone is a reason for me to be willing to want to run and traverse into places such as Cohasset or Forest Ranch. These are places I visit very frequently where I can run freely unraveled by my run and music to match the scenery improving myself and releasing stress from the breathtaking views. Many don’t take the time to research and find these places because many of us are comfortable being where were at and the majority of people are inside their cities unaware of what else is out there from nature.

Running is one of the most efficient ways to educate yourself on safety where to go and where not to go in general. This reason is justified based on you being out and about very often. It allows you to deeply think about your decisions and choices from just crossing the street, to accidentally trespassing on someone’s property and getting in severe trouble. There are also other things to be aware of such as crime, wildlife, weather, accessories, injuries, reception, or the duration of running we have before it gets dark. These things can occur anywhere even in the wildlife where it’s safer. Running teaches a lot about how hazardous the world can be and we witness more as we are outside. Preparation for anything is always key when going for sun exposure. It is important to note that strangers are often our biggest enemies while running posing the largest threat while running from their putrid decisions, discrimination of a runner, or crime. As an example, some runners may decide to run onto the street without using a crosswalk due to impatience and could get severely injured.

Running is extremely difficult at times and there are always milestones to be set. There is a point in time when we lose our spirit, motivation, confidence, and mind while running because of the immense pain that we can potentially face. There was one time I ran 24 miles after not running for around 2 weeks, with no running shoes, water, phone, or preparation. For the first 13 miles, I felt superb about how things were going. Eventually, the pain proceeded to creep in and that’s when things became much more challenging and it wasn’t so fun anymore. I remained in complete doubt that there was no way physically possible that running back home 10 miles away was feasible. I remained extremely dehydrated, my thighs and legs in pain, feet were in pain with blisters and the main thing I had to overcome was the doubt. This is substantially very powerful as an individual because it has a connection with life as a whole and if I accomplished that amount of pain I feel as if I can execute anything and more. As a practitioner emulating this same course again would be a lot easier from my body being trained along with my most essential mind. Our minds often quit way before our body has lost its ability to continue in motion it’s just that we can’t tough the pain out and when we do which isn’t permanent, it is one of the most prideful and best feelings you could experience.

Overall running has exceeded my expectations on how it converted my perspective and how fun it has been so far. I’ve learned that this activity is very underestimated by many and it is extremely accessible to most out there. I’ve never felt so happy about something so simple that I’ve applied to my life. It provides a greater appreciation for life as a whole and embraces every portion of nature. I’ve learned to never be stagnated in my house or town and instead to go explore or execute something with myself allowing me to have something to look forward to daily while constructing my self-esteem and remaining physically and mentally healthier.
