Top 5 Valentines Day Candies

Ranking staff’s top five candies

Almost every holiday in America has a candy attached to it. Easter? Jellybeans. St. Patrick’s Day? Coins. Halloween? Candy corn. Hanukkah? Gelt. I could go on. It’s almost ridiculous the amount of themed candy we have. So its no surprise that Valentine’s Day has its fair share of pink and red candies. In honor of love month arriving, here are Top 5 Valentine’s Day candies.

    Cheap Chocolate Hearts

While it may be a sweet gesture from your valentine, Wal-Mart chocolate hearts typically taste stale and old. The chocolate often tastes chalky, and the caramel can be hard and gross.

  1. Sweethearts Conversation Hearts

Although a classic, sweethearts are just not sweet enough to be in the top three. Even though they have cute messages, their terrible taste outweighs their pretty appearance. Sour, dry, and just plain gross. And to top it all off, they contain a known carcinogen.

  1. Hershey’s Kisses

Hershey’s valentine Kisses pack a delicious chocolate punch into a teensy little bell. A Hershey’s kiss is the perfect amount of sweetness necessary for a small little treat. Bonus points for the strawberry filling ones!

  1. Chocolate Covered Strawberries

While not necessarily a Valentine’s candy, chocolate covered strawberries deserve a spot on this list. They have many different variations so everyone can enjoy a sweet (and healthy) dessert. Also, they can easily be made by anyone at home!

  1. Ferrero Rochers

The luxury quality of a sweet and nutty Ferrero Rocher can not be beat. The Italian chocolate, wrapped in gold, stands out against any plain chocolate bar. With its unique, whole hazelnut inner, the Fererro Rocher deserves the #1 spot.
